Adaptive Shock Absorber Repair
AirTec provides professional repair of all types of original adaptive shock absorbers, restoring them to OEM-level performance identical to a new factory unit.
Only at AirTec do you receive printed dyno graphs, proving full compliance between the repaired shock absorber and original OEM specifications.
👉 By choosing AirTec, you choose reliability, controlled quality, and maximum safety.
Adaptive Shock Absorber Repair Process at AirTec
1. Disassembly and Initial Inspection
After removal from the vehicle, the adaptive shock absorber is separated from:
-
the air spring (in air suspension systems), or
-
the coil spring (in conventional spring suspension systems)
The unit is thoroughly cleaned and visually inspected for:
-
hydraulic oil leaks
-
mechanical damage
-
deformations or other visible defects
2. Preliminary Testing on EMA Shock Absorber Dyno
🔴 Every shock absorber undergoes mandatory preliminary testing on an electromagnetic EMA shock absorber dyno with laboratory-grade OEM accuracy.
AirTec operates one of the most advanced shock absorber dyno systems in the world, featuring:
-
electromagnetic loading (EMA)
-
loading speeds up to 7 meters per second
-
precise control of force, velocity, and stroke
This allows us to reproduce absolutely all real-world operating conditions the shock absorber experiences on the road — from slow movements to extreme dynamic loads.
✔ Laboratory-level measurement accuracy identical to OEM testing
✔ The only dyno of this type available in Bulgaria
Using this dyno, we:
-
simulate real driving conditions
-
test bound and rebound behavior at various speeds
-
measure damping forces at different positions
-
verify correct electronic damping control operation
➡️ Preliminary dyno testing is critical for accurate fault diagnosis.
Simple hand-compression checks are technically insufficient and provide no real information about shock performance.
3. Opening, Repair, and Gas Charging
After analyzing the dyno data, the shock absorber is opened.
Original adaptive shock absorbers are factory-sealed and officially non-serviceable, designed to be replaced rather than repaired.
Thanks to our specialized equipment, proprietary know-how, and long-term experience, AirTec can safely and reliably:
-
open the shock absorber
-
perform a complete internal rebuild
-
reseal and gas-charge the unit
The exact repair technology remains part of our proprietary know-how.
During the repair, OEM-grade components manufactured in Europe are used, including:
-
upgraded guides
-
specialized seals
-
original calibrators and valves
-
electronic solenoids
-
bushings
✔ After repair, the shock absorber is fully identical in performance and characteristics to a new OEM unit.
✔ Electronic damping control remains fully functional.
✔ Gas charging is performed using the exact type, pressure, and quantity specified by the manufacturer.
⚠ Important Notice
❌ AirTec does NOT repair Chinese copies or aftermarket replicas of adaptive shock absorbers.
These products:
-
do not feature real damping control systems
-
rely on electronic “dummy” circuits
-
severely degrade vehicle handling
-
represent a serious safety risk
✔ High-quality and safe repair is possible only with original OEM shock absorbers.
4. Final Testing on the Dyno
After repair, every shock absorber undergoes final testing on the EMA dyno under:
-
multiple speed ranges
-
various load conditions
-
all electronic damping modes
The results are:
-
carefully analyzed
-
compared with initial test data
-
verified against OEM specifications
✔ Each repaired shock absorber is supplied with printed dyno graphs (certificate) confirming correct operation and full OEM compliance.
➡️ A level of quality control available only at AirTec.
5. Marking and Full Traceability
Every shock absorber serviced by AirTec:
-
is permanently machine-marked
-
is registered in our internal database
This ensures complete traceability — who worked on it, when, and how — and is a key part of our quality assurance system.
6. Assembly and Installation
At the final stage, the adaptive shock absorber is assembled:
-
together with the air spring, or
-
with a coil spring
The complete unit is then ready for installation in the vehicle.
